Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options

Thank you for your enquiry. Great to hear you are an aspiring writer and yes, there are many free options available or websites and writing blogs. WordPress gives you two options, one for creating a website in which case you have to buy a domain and another which is for a free blog:
https://wordpress.org/ (this is the one that you have to pay for a domain)
https://wordpress.com/
Another great alternative is blogger https://www.blogger.com which has some nice templates for blogs – totally free – a google product.
If you are wanting to have a go at creating a website yourself you might like to try using google sites https://sites.google.com/ Google sites are are totally free and very easy to do yourself with all the functionality you need.
There is also booksmart where you can create your book and publish it.
